part_tst (Version 0, Enzmann 2001) The purpose of the SPSS-Macro part_tst is to test the difference between two standardized regression coefficients of the same sample (one regression equation). The SPSS-Macro part_tst computes all differences and the tests of of their significance between the partial regression coefficients of a regression equation (one dependent variable) according to the procedure described in Cohen & Cohen (1983), pp. 479 ff (or see the new edition Cohen et al., 2003, pp. 640ff). The approach of this macro is different from merely testing the difference between two (partial) correlations coefficients in the same sample because it tests the difference between two standardized regression coefficients dependent on the ALL independent variables in the regression equation. If, for example, the regression equation contains the independent variables v1 to v6, depending on the intercorrelations between the independent variables, the result of the test of the difference between the standardized betas between v1 and v2 will be different from the result of a regression equation that contains only the two independent variables v1 and v2. Important note: It is assumed that you are looking for a certain difference, the test does not correct for multiple comparisons. Part_tst is still an experimental version.
